It’s pretty hard to create a game for the small iPhone screen that genuinely absorbs you into it. With the format tending towards cartoon or somehow tongue-in-cheek graphics styles i.e. Angry Birds or Stick Cliff Diving, there just hasn’t been much of a tendency for truly pretty games.
Well behold the Amazing Breaker game; a beautifully designed ice-breaking game that can be described as a more explosive version of the bubble popping classic, Bust-a-Move 2. In Amazing Breaker, you control a slingshot-like device and fire various projectiles at pretty ice sculptures with the intention of smashing them.
Aside from your basic spiked bombs, you also have special projectiles types such as the dividing bomb (which splits into three, allowing you to cause chain reactions) or the ghost bomb, which you can control as it glides through the ice sculptures. This can make for some pretty spectacular explosive gameplay.
Amazing Breaker wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for its unique and gorgeous design. The crystalline graphics make you feel like you’re smashing ice on some distant frozen planet, while a lot of time clearly went into the hypnotic ambient soundtrack. The wonderful aesthetic really complements the familiar, but still brilliant, gameplay.
Breaker features a hundred levels across 5 different ‘stages’, with each level having a star-based ranking system out of three. This, along with Game Center rankings and achievements means that you’ll remain entranced in this game for light years to come.
