I last reviewed the 2012 edition of this game here, and given the strong impression it left upon me the bar was set high for this year’s edition.

I am proud to say that Baseball Superstars 2013 lives up to, if not exceeds the legacy left behind by last year’s rendition of the series.

To start off, the game follows a virtually identical graphic scheme as its predecessor so fans of the series will find it easy to adapt. The gist of the game stays the same too. Players can either choose to play the role of a pitcher or a batter, whereby the control systems differ for each but the goals remain the same. That is to bring your team up the championships and become the best player you can.

Now the main difference between this year’s update and last year’s version of the game lies in the control system. For instance, the 2012 version of pitching involved swirling patterns around a small grid but this year, players have to steady a joystick while timing a shot button to launch their pitches.

Moreover, in-game items have extended their reach to performance enhancing boosters that are available for single use seemingly to fish out more real dough for in-game cash.

Game content is as deep as every with side events such as training, shopping and even quests to complete. The sandbox style of the game leaves it up to the player on what task to finish first, but ultimately winning the championship takes precedence.

If you have an extra couple of hours to spare every now and then, do give this game a shot.

Quick Take

Value:High

Would I Buy Again:Yes

Learning Curve:Complex. The game has much depth to understand

Who Is It For:Baseball fans who want to live the life of an up and coming star

What I Like:The depth of the game content

What I Don't Like:The subliminal stress on in-app purchases

Final Statement:It seems like the game is very concerned with wasting your virtual dollars so you can purchase more with real currency
