The nerdy hands at Backflip studios are back, after the hit game DragonVale and it seems they are sticking with the same winning formula. If you can do the math, take DragonVale, negate the cute dragons and add a bunch of tin bots and what you have here, my dear friends, is called Gizmonauts.

If you havent heard of DragonVale – just think of it as a Farmville or Multiplayer Age of Empires for iOS. Still doesn’t ring a bell? Let me explain. You are the ruler of an Intergalactic Space Station and you have the ability of create new buildings and robots. Each building and bot has a special function and as time passes, they earn you money which can in turn, be used to expand your kingdom. Invite your friends to the game and become their neighbors, exchanging gifts and bots.

Now that you are familiar with the scenario, lets dive a little deeper. Spending some coins, various units like mining zones, building zones etc are deployed with corresponding bots. As you might be familiar, the actions are real-time based and you may have to wait upto 5 mins for the new changes to occur. If patience is not your best virtue, you can multitask your favorite quick fix game and come back later or as always, appreciate the developers with some cash. Snax Shacks are the restaurants and bots can be fed into higher efficient levels. You can also add gadgets or create hybrids of bots and send them to the arena for battles. Unfortunately, the battles are automated but they finish within the blink of an eye and you are rewarded for victories. Various goals are provided in the menu and coins are added as you complete them. The game as a whole progresses in levels and more features are unlocked as you climb up!

Unlike lots of similar games in this genre, Gizmonauts stands out owing to its least greedy gameplay. It is surely possible to squeeze the whole fun out of the game without spending a single buck. But for those fans of DragonVale, you wouldn’t find anything you haven’t seen before. Still, what’s the harm in checking out a decent game that’s free. So gather some friends and find the new way of social networking.

Quick Take

Value:High

Would I Buy Again:Yes

Learning Curve:Medium

Who Is It For:Multiplayer game lovers with lots of friends

What I Like:Not so money-hungry

What I Don't Like:Too much similar to DragonVale

Final Statement:Best in its Class
