I just spend two hours straight with Icon Pop Quiz and I still want more. It’s wonderful how much one could see through a small icon window.
Tap through the sharply colored interface to reach a square icon, referring to a TV show or an actor or a book. Guess the word and you’re done. Its like charades with picture instead of acting. The game is real simple, but the gameplay is super exciting. Sometimes the names are at the tip of your tongue and you just can’t spit it out.
The themes include movie names, fictional characters, famous people and Christmas items. The picture shows a unique hand drawn figure highlighting Kung fu Panda, Wonder Women, Abraham Lincoln, or even Rudolf, the red nosed reindeer. Each category has further levels which are unlocked based on your performance.
The best thing about the game is that it knows what we exactly mean. It ignores minor spelling mistakes and also recognizes alternate or nick names. Whenever you’re stuck, there are plenty of help available; Ask a friend on FB or Twitter, ask for a clue, reveal some letters of the word or the unique reveal used keys on the keyboard. If you still don’t get it, the magical word revealing can also be availed. Yeah, you guessed right! Hints require tokens to buy and can be purchased within the app.
The execution is a real winner for this one except for the annoyingly large number of ads. The hints are totally worth buying and hence, I think it should be made adless. Keeping that aside, I think, this is one of the most fun game I’ve ever played.

Pick up some general knowledge about the movie/TV by using “Hint”, remove incorrect letters with “Eliminate Keys”, or use the “Open Letters” to figure out the right word! If all else fails, players can always “Ask a Friend” on Facebook or Twitter, or “Reveal” the answer with accumulated points as a last resort.
