Voices.com is the leading provider in a service you may not have thought, ever. In fact, I had never done until a few days earlier, when an officemate told us she had just hired a voice actor for an NGO she is working on. I was like “odd.” Then I found Voices.com and its companion iPhone app.
Voices.com for iPhone is a sleek app. You have to try it to find out, but it feels almost as if made by Apple. You open the app and are greeted by the interesting points (even without an account): Top 100 voices and a search box. Just that (well, there’s still a sign up/login button, but it had to be somewhere.)
Listening (and hiring) Top 100 voices is a charm. Just browse and play the voice you are interested in. While it’s playing you can open the “voice” details, with a resumé for the voice actor as well as turnaround times, tools used and delivery method. Also client feedback (much appreciated for this kind of work!) and an optional, additional set of demo samples. I mean additional as in “everyone has a sample, some people have more.” If I ever have to hire a voice (who knows, having a cool voice over in tutorial videos would be nice) I know the right place and yes, “there’s an app for that.”
Also, your money is completely secure when working with Voices.com. They offer their own escrow service, to which you can pay via PayPal, Visa or MasterCard, making sure the client (probably you) and the talented voice (maybe you?) are happy with the transaction.
In short: Voices.com for iPhone offers voices.com in a smooth, iPhone friendly way. If you are a Voices.com client this is one app you need in your iPhone.
